Hello from Saskatoon

Hello all,

I am a recent barefoot/minimalist convert (< 1year) after reading Born to Run. I immediately stepped out of my Asics and bought a pair of racing flats (adizeros). I've also done a few short barefoot runs (under 1km).

I work in the construction industry so I am looking for a work shoe with minimal padding a zero or near zero rise heel.

Hello Andrew,

Work shoes... that is a tough one, and honestly an area of minimalist footwear that I haven't explored, mostly because I don't work in construction. I wonder if Russell Moccasin has anything that might qualify as fit for construction. What are the features you require?

Yeah, I didn't think many people would be looking for minimalist construction shoes. I have made some progress though. I found some zero-drop slip-over steel toes (www.safetytoes.com). You could slip them over any shoe and they would pass at many construction sites. Otherwise I am looking at getting a pair of boots "zero-dropped".

Hey, those look pretty cool, good find! Actually, if you do some research on minimalist footwear for the job site, I think that would have great potential for a full-blown article... I think others would really benefit from the information.
