Toms Shoes?

Has anyone tried Toms shoes? The seem to be gaining popularity with certain groups I see at the local university campus. They look semi-minimal but I wondered if they have arch support and raised heels. Just wondering.

I've worn Toms before. My take:

1) They run a bit narrow. I have narrow feet, but just something to note for people with wider feet.

2) As far as I can tell they're completely flat, no heel to toe drop. There's very minimal arch support (basically, what seems to be a second layer of leather/fabric sewn into the arch area.) It compressed down to almost nothing very quickly, and it seems to be a bit more decorative/stylish than supportive.

3) YMMV, but I didn't find them to be terribly durable for the price. Also, they get wet very, very easily. However, if you need a casual to nice shoe, they're perfect for occasional use.

4) The sole is low to the ground and flat, but not terribly flexible.

Overall, if you're looking for something less sporty than the Merrell line and less weird than VFFs, but costing a lot less than Terra Plana, Toms aren't a bad bet. The biggest dealbreakers I can think of are the stiff sole and the narrow fit.
