Questions & Answers

Hi from Calgary, Canada

Hi Everyone,

I'm Tina from LivingBarefoot.info and sometimes wish that I lived somewhere where you could go barefoot more often in the year. But until I move to someplace more tropical, I'll continue to wear my multitude of minimalist footwear.

I'm a little jealous of his weather while I turn up my heat and try to avoid the current -20C with a windchill of -30C. :)

Tina, good to see you here... no surprise. You guys have been such a great resource for minimalist footwear. Keep up the amazing work.

I feel your pain with regards to the weather. I have been trying the barefoot snow thing, but sometimes it just gets too cold. My poor foot circulation doesn't help either.

Good to see you here too. Thanks for the compliment. Al and I appreciate it.

I'm impressed you've been able to try barefoot on snow. It's been so cold here lately. I don't do barefoot in snow. I hate cold feet. I wish there were more minimalist options for -20C but I've found that only the VIVOBAREFOOT Brooklyn boots are comfortable in this kind of cold. The Dundans and Kuuvas don't have enough insulation for me.

What do you wear to walk in the -20?

For now, FiveFinger Treks are my FiveFinger of choice. I like a little more grip on the snow covered ice. I look forward to the end of my VFF challenge so I can look closer at some other, more weather appropriate footwear. The VivoBarefoot look promising. I have a pair of Aquas in the mail, and I have been looking to get my hands on the Franklin.

It's too bad the Flow Trek didn't become available in North America. They might have been warmer than the Treks but still have the good grip. I know what you mean about wanting more grip on snow. Last winter, the only relatively warm running shoes I had were the Flows and I had to be really careful on the snowy sidewalks.
