Questions & Answers

Hello from a world of sandy beaches and endless roads.

I'm happy to be joining up with this (currently small) community. I've never made a lot of time to join sites or forums, so I thought getting in on one that is taking off would be a great place to start.

I'm from South Florida and am lucky enough to be able to handle heat, so rain is my only real battle with getting out to run. I am currently in the stage of falling deeper in love with running, and I'm having a great time doing it.

I'm hoping to learn about everything; cool new products, tips for running, maybe even events.

Thanks for having me, Ben

Your title made me so jealous! The roads outside here still have snow/ice on them and snow covering most of the ground. What I wouldn't give for a year round NICE running climate. Enjoy!

I'm definitely not complaining, but there is a trade off. We can have a fierce hurricane season here in South Florida, and it's almost impossible to find any decent trails. On the other side of things we can run 20 miles right next to the beach, almost year round. I'll keep the appreciation going!

I wish I was in a place of warmth and sun. It just snow and ice at this time of year. Ran in 12 inches of snow last nigh but I think that is like running on the loose sand so I just close my eyes and imagine that!

Canadarunner, I wore my swim goggles a few weeks ago to run in because it was blizzard conditions. I couldn't even see.<br> I don't have a good enough imagination to picture beach when I can't feel my toes. :) Thank heavens for a crappy treadmill. I use it until I can't stand the treadmill and then I run till I freeze and can't stand the cold. Wash, rinse and repeat. :)

I too run on the treadmill until I get so bored I go back out in to the freezing weather. On my run on Sat my water bladder froze had to stop and go inside a store just to thaw out. The other day my face cover frozen to my beard but I love the run so I bare the pain.

You have twice the dedication I do. If the weather is too bad, I'll just spend some extra time with the family.

I agree sometimes it is to cold. It was -20 this morning. To cold to run so I just rode on my trainer for a while.
