I wrote my first review of Primal Professionals (now Chronology) three years ago, doesn’t seem that long ago, but I mentioned my age in the review. This weekend there was an article in the Wall Street Journal Off Duty section titled “Sneakers’ Time to Shine.” The gist of the article was how guys are more and more able to swap out their uncomfortable business dress shoes for the new designer sneakers. I had to chuckle at the conclusion that to be comfortable at work, you had to buy a $700 pair of sneakers. Sure, maybe if you’re an artistic director, or the CEO of some cutting-edge startup, wearing fancy leather sneakers would be de rigueur, but for most of us normal guys, that’s not really an attractive option. Luckily, there’s the sensible PriPro alternative! Initially, I would cycle in my PriPro shoes 2 or 3 times a week, and use my traditional Johnson & Murphys when I had important meetings, public hearings, or council briefings. The WSJ article reminded me to haul out my old J&Ms. As you can see by the dust in the photo below, it has been a very long time since I’ve worn them. The PriPros are just too comfortable to wear anything else! They are still looking great after years of constant wear, and my feet still feel great at the end of the 13- to 16-hour days. At less than half the price of some of those designer sneakers, you can still look professional, but have the zero-drop comfort that frankly is probably better for you than a sneaker. Too bad the Wall Street Journal article didn’t show THAT choice…
