Sawyer Products offer effective and reliable products for outdoor protection; they specialize in advanced and easy to use solutions in water treatment, bug repellent, sunscreen, and first aid. For our Appalachian adventure Sawyer is helping to keep our family safe by providing us with insect protection and water filtration. In addition, they are stocking our first aid kit with more supplies and providing us sunscreen.
Last year I published an article which discussed some of what I had learned throughout my admittedly short running "career", the article continues to be one of the first I recommend to friends new to running as well as those new to minimalist running. That article includes discussion on: minimalist running, proper footwear, MAF or aerobic training, and the importance of R&R (rest and rolling). If you haven't read that article I highly recommend you start there as my opinions on the topics presented has not changed much over the last few months and I believe all runners could gain from applying at least some of what is presented. When I wrote that first article, I intended to quickly follow-up with a second part. This is the long-delayed follow up.
Here we are now, at the half-way point of our campaign, and already 80% funded. The prognosis looks good, I think we are going to make it. Support for our project has been overwhelming. We have been truly humbled by the generosity of our backers, and all of the help we have gotten through the blogging community in helping us to get the word out.
It has been over five months since we first announced our thru-hike, and it has literally been years in the planning. Opportunities like this don't happen every day, and we want to make the most of it. Lots of people write books about these kinds of experiences, we thought we would do something a bit different: we are producing a video series. To get this project off the ground, we have launched a Kickstarter campaign. Head on-over to the Kickstarter page to read the details, and if you like what we are doing, please back us so we can make this thing happen!
This gear list details the items we are fairly certain we are packing. This list is not complete or *trail ready*. As we finalize our gear decisions and start actually packing for our adventure we will update this list with each and every item we are bringing. We will also include the weight of every item for the lightweight gearheads, and for the mother who wants to ensure her children are not overburdened!
