I went "barefoot" this summer and now own two pairs of VFF shoes and Merrell cross trainers. I suffered terrible discomfort in my hiking boots for a few years, and switching to minimalist shoes have eliminated that. I have been fine for everything so far, but my dilemma is the winter. What can I wear with my snowshoes?
Minimalist for snowshoeing?

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll start there. Snow falling hard in the mountains and I'm itching to get up there!

I have not been using them in snow yet but they are very comfortable. Working in 35 degree water for 2 hours my feet did not get cold wearing just normal tube socks in them.... also did not get wet. They have durable rubber around the ankles where it is expected one would have rock chaffing while portaging. Might work for snowshoeing http://chotaoutdoorgear.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=34_37&products_id=50

Last winter, I used the GoLite Quest Lite hiking boot. It's relatively lightweight at 17 ounces, and pretty close to waterproof (but not perfect). It is zero drop, but the upper is pretty stiff. I'm still looking for a better solution, but for now, they work for me.
I am a huge fan of these: http://www.outsideways.com/forty-below-overboots

In either case, you can wear your favorite minimalist footwear underneath.
